In 1925, a bronze medallion with an American bald eagle and the words “Pratt & Whitney - Dependable Engines” was attached
to the first engine ever produced by the company. Although many stories have been associated with that medallion, the origins
have been obscured by time. Since the company was established to manufacture aircraft engines, it seemed logical for the
company to choose the eagle as its symbol of flight. The eagle is the most powerful of birds, characterized by its keen vision,
broad wings, and ability to hold steady for long periods of time in flight.
